Dear Challenger Teachers, Are you a guardian angel? Well, be one! My name is Chantel Weary and I am a guardian angel. Our class is trying to tell you to give people’s addresses for them to donate to St. Judes. We are doing this event at Challenger School. We are going to do this event as soon as possible. I will tell you about the reason why cancer is such an important disease to fight, tell you what are we doing as a class to help fight cancer, through the St. Jude’s up til’ dawn fundraiser, and tell you how you can help us. First, I will tell you about the reasons why cancers is such important disease to fight. It’s a disease characterized by unbelievable growth of abnormal cells. It can be caused by things inside or outside of your body. They always fight the cancer with treatment (radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and etc.). 1,500 people a day die of cancer. About 1,473,180 of new cancer cases might be diagnosed this year. The reason we are fighting for cancer is because parents can be struggling to support their child with cancer. There are many kinds of cancers. Second, I will tell you what we are doing as a class to help fight cancer, through the St. Jude’ up til’ dawn fundraiser. We are going to support the St. Judes awareness and raise money for St Jude’s hospital. We are writing letters in honor of patients of St. Jude and their bravery in fighting cancer. At the end of this project, we will be in school, and stay up all night until the morning stuffing envelopes to send out letters. Up til’ dawn fundraiser is held so that kids will give up a night of sleep mailing fundraising letters. Our mission is to have 2,000 or more addresses of St. Jude donors. We are going to help people with cancer. Last, I will tell you how you can help us. You can ask teachers for letters. You can ask your parents for addresses. You can give your addresses. You can ask your family for addresses. You can ask people around you. You can ask people around the park for addresses. You can ask people for addresses at your church. We will write letters, you give us addresses. The conclusion is that you can be a guardian angel if you can give your addresses for the St. Jude donors. Our goal is to get 2,000 addresses. We will be sending out letters asking people to donate money on May 15th. I will tell you about the reasons why cancer is such and important disease to fight. We will get help by collecting addresses and sending letters asking people to donate to St Jude. We will try as hard as we can!
